The Ondo State Police Command on Monday paraded 34 suspected criminals arrested for different offences.
Addressing
reporters at the State Police Headquarters, the Commissioner of Police,
Isaac Eke said his command was able to pick those suspects through a
robust relationship the police have with the members of the public.
Highlighting
how the accused were apprehended, Eke explained that 20 cultists, seven
armed robbery, five cyber crime suspect/internet fraudsters, and two
indiam hemp dealers were picked up by his men.
He added that four stolen vehicles were recovered from car snatchers by his officers.
He
narrated that his men arrested a nigh guard, Lucky Stephen at
Bolorunduro community in Ondo East local government, who allegedly
engages in conspiring with thieves to carry out attacks on the
community.
He said locally made barrel gun with five expended catridges and a Techno Nokia cell phone were recovered from the said Stephen.
The
Police Commissioner, who particularly emphasized on the high rate of
cultism in the state, said series of their attacks had made him to form
Anti-Cultism Squad.
He noted that those members of the cult groups, who include six black
Ake a.k.a Ayee, 11 Bird a.k.a Eye and three Ave fraternities were
picked from Akure, Ondo, Owo and Akungba-Akoko towns.
Eke also
said that one Jolly Obasohan and Tochukwu Augustine Ibuzute from
Benin-City, Edo State had been arrested and convicted for stealing the
sum of N460,000 from the account of the Chief Medical Director of the
Ondo State specialist hospital, Akure, Dr. Ikuomola Adeniyan.
